    Volunteer Opportunities

There are several ways to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House:

    Regular House Volunteer

    - Sign up for 2-hour shifts to perform House duties (cleaning, straighten-up, organize). These volunteers are crucial to the operation of the House.

    Special Event Volunteer

    - Sign up to be called for various special events/projects that happen throughout the year.

    Meal Groups

    - Prepare a nightly meal either here at the House or off-site and deliver the meal.

If you have a youth group, we would love to have them become involved with the Ronald McDonald House. Children must be at least 12 years of age to volunteer on the House premises, however there are many ways in which they can contribute to the "House that love built."

Bake treats for our families and bring them to the House
Collect items for the Wish List
Make decorations for the doors of our 21 bedrooms
Make goody bags for children with fun items like shoelaces or notepads
Make goody bags for adults with items like toiletries, stamps, stationary, cards or magazines
Collect pop tabs to donate to the House

    Celebrating Our Volunteers

We count on our volunteers’ hearts and hands to help support the families who stay at the Ronald McDonald House. On March 31, 2010 we celebrated the enormous contributions of our wonderful volunteers by recongnizing the “helping hands” of our meal groups, quilting guilds, board members, service league members and kitchen and playroom volunteers with a luncheon held in their honor.

During the event, Nayna Uppin was announced as the 2009 Volunteer of the Year. Nayna works tirelessly to keep our house pantry neat and organized in order to ensure that we are using our donated items most effectively. It takes hours upon painstaking hours to date, sort and stock the pantry, and we are so thankful to Nayna for her dedication to this task. We also thanked Minnie Jackson for 15 years of dedicated volunteer service.

We are so very grateful for all of our volunteers. Each and everyone helps make the Ronald McDonald House a special place for our families. If you would like to find out how you or your group can become “helping hands” at the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern North Carolina, please contact Cathy Ahlschlager, at 252-847-9127.
